After The Blackpool Gazette published an article which exposed the expense claims for the second homes of Fylde Coast MPs, numerous critical comments were made by readers which were quickly removed with the note, 'Comment Reported Unsuitable By User':

Though not all comments were read before they were removed, many were, and the only apparent reason that they were deleted seems to be that they were outraged at the ongoing expenses scandal as they were neither offensive or inappropriate.

So, who is responsible for the systematic censorship of public opinion?

Either The Blackpool Gazette has taken the initiative to sanitise the article or there is a New Labour Party apparatchik who has been given free reign to stifle dissent by the newspaper's website editor.

This is not, by far, the first instance of The Blackpool Gazette allowing or perpetrating the mass censorship of comments which are critical of local MPs which suggests that the paper has an ulterior motive.

Al-Megrahi Releases Lockerbie Appeal Dossier on the Internet

Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, the Libyan convicted of the Lockerbie bombing, has published documents on the internet that he claims will prove his innocence.

Hundreds of pages relating to the appeal by Megrahi were put into the public domain on a new website.

Megrahi, who has terminal prostate cancer, was freed early on compassionate grounds last month from the life term he was serving at Greenock prison for the bombing.

Before his release, he dropped his second appeal against conviction.

His Scottish lawyers, Taylor & Kelly, said the documents published on www.megrahimystory.net related to that appeal.

Megrahi said in a statement: ''I have returned to Tripoli with my unjust conviction still in place.

''As a result of the abandonment of my appeal, I have been deprived of the opportunity to clear my name through the formal appeal process.

''I have vowed to continue my attempts to clear my name.''

Megrahi's statement went on: "I will do everything in my power to persuade the public, and in particular the Scottish public, of my innocence.

"Through my website I have published the material which featured in the first full hearing of my appeal."

These included documents on the grounds of his appeal, and the "legal sufficiency and reasonableness" of court findings.

"I hope that this can assist in the understanding of my case, especially for those who have been most profoundly affected by it," said Megrahi.

"As can be seen from the documents released today, some of the challenges mounted before the court are supported by the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission."

Argument had been heard on the challenges but the appeal court had not been able to give its opinion by the time he dropped his appeal, he said.

A spokesman for the law firm said: "Mr Megrahi hopes to continue to publish details of his appeal challenge in the course of the forthcoming weeks."

Megrahi was serving a life sentence with a minimum term of 27 years after being convicted in 2001 of bombing Pan Am flight 103 in 1988, killing 270 people.

His release by Scotland's Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill triggered an international controversy, sparking outrage among the relatives of US victims.

But there has been a long-running campaign, supported by some British relatives of victims, to have his conviction overturned.

Megrahi was convicted of the bombing in January 2001 by a three-judge Scottish court convened in the Netherlands.

He appealed unsuccessfully the following year.

In 2007 the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission, which investigates possible miscarriages of justice, sent his case for a second appeal.

That process got under way earlier this year, but has now been left in legal limbo by Megrahi's decision to drop the appeal.

The documents published today relate to the grounds of appeal which were argued at the appeal court in Edinburgh between April 28 and May 19.

The website said Megrahi would publish other documents at a later date.

These related to arguments which would have been made in court from November.

The appeal was lodged on several grounds.

The first two grounds, which have already been argued in court, were that Megrahi's conviction was unreasonable and based on insufficient evidence.

A third set of grounds gave some of the reasons why the SCCRC referred the case to the Appeal Court, along with additional arguments.

These include the way in which identification evidence was obtained from a Maltese shopkeeper, Tony Gauci.

They also include what the defence documents describe as "significant failures" by the Crown to disclose information about the identification evidence and about Mr Gauci.

Mr Gauci picked out Megrahi as the man who bought clothes which were later found in the suitcase that contained the bomb.

The third set of appeal grounds also relate - according to today's documents - to undisclosed information for which the UK Government had sought public interest immunity from disclosure.

"The SCCRC considered that failure to disclose this information, of itself, may have resulted in a miscarriage of justice and this was one of the reasons for referring the case back to the Appeal Court," said the documents.

Megrahi had sought disclosure of that information since October 2007, but the issue had not been resolved by the time he dropped his appeal.

"Without that information, the appellant argues that he could not advance his right of appeal and was denied a fair hearing of his appeal in breach of statute and Article 6 of the European Convention of Human Rights," said the document.

Other grounds of appeal related to "concerns" about forensic evidence and "defective" representation.

Scottish Labour justice spokesman Richard Baker said: "Megrahi was tried and convicted.

"His appeal failed and he was released by Kenny MacAskill before his second appeal was heard.

"He remains in the eyes of Scottish justice the murderer of 270 people. The release of these files does not change that fact."

According to a story uncovered by a Private Eye blogger who is researching the satirical magazine's 50 year history, Gordon Brown went on a 'a three-week CIA freebie trip to the USA' in June 1984, just 12 months after being elected for the first time as MP for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath:

The new Labour member for Dunfermline East, Dr Gordon Brown, is typical of the brand of mediocre, middle-class careerists who make up an increasing proportion of the undistinguished lobby-fodder and whom Labour habitually returns from Scotland, though he has greater academic pretensions than most.

Brown shot to provincial fame on being elected as Edinburgh University’s first student Rector in the late 1960s and ever since his ambition has outstripped his ability. Although, in a tribute, his old history tutor Dr Paul Addison has stated that Brown was “always more than a swot”, it appears that he lacked certain essential social graces. He never fully recovered from his rejection as suitor by the lovely Princess Marguerita of Romania (who works as a computer programmer in the University’s Computer Department) and ever since has devoted himself obsessively to his political career.

Before becoming Labour’s Scottish Chairman (a meaningless appointment made on the “Buggins’ Turn” principle) Brown worked on a series of current affairs documentaries for Scottish TV which were so excruciatingly dull that he was mercifully taken off the air (he has two brothers in the Scots media).

Once again he has been exceeding his limitations in his new role as a Scots lackey in the outer limits of Kinnock’s kitchen cabinet. A recent Sunday Times article which he had ghosted for the new labour leader had to be withdrawn as “hopeless” by Kinnock’s press officer, Patricia “Harpie” Hewitt.

In June, Brown will enjoy a three-week CIA freebie trip to the USA (he will get $60 a day pocket money while out there.) Kinnock felt obliged to approve this unfashionable hostage to fortune because he himself had been on a similar trip some years ago.

The most significant aspect of the anticipation of the release of Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi, the Libyan man convicted of the Lockerbie bombing, was the gulf which was apparent between those who believed that he should have been released and those who thought he should die in prison. Those who sought justice and those who sought vengeance. Those who believed he was innocent and those who believed he was guilty. Those who wanted a full and open inquiry and those who did not. Those who were Scottish and those who were American.*

Anybody who has paid the slightest attention to the Lockerbie incident cannot have failed to smell the bullshit. Outside the show trial in Camp Zeist in 2000 the case has been examined ad nauseam with the consistent conclusion that al-Megrahi is innocent. His conviction was heavily based on his identification by a Maltese shopkeeper, Tony Gauci, who allegedly sold al-Megrahi the clothes in which the bomb was wrapped. Apart from failing to point the finger at al-Megrahi during his many contradictory interviews with the police did, however, identify him after having seen the suspect's photo. He was rewarded for his information to the sum of $2m and now lives in Australia.

The circumstances in which the circuit board evidence was discovered are, to say the least, suspicious. The forensic evidence was flawed by exposure that the scientist was unqualified and had been involved in the wrongful conviction of IRA suspects. The circuit board manufacturer was unable to account for the destination of their products.

Investigations by many journalists, including the late Paul Foot and David Yallop uncovered a scandal of fake evidence, controlled delivery of drugs under the supervision of the CIA and DEA and the manufacture for a pretext for aggression against Libya. Several 'VIP' passengers were apparently warned not to take that flight and during one of the busiest travel periods, the days leading to Christmas, an aircraft takes off half empty. Evidence strongly suggests that the attacks were in all likelihood a contracted act of revenge against the US whose ship, the USS Vincennes, shot down an Iranian A300 Airbus in July of 1988 killing some 290 passengers, mistaking it for an Iranian F14 fighter. It has also been suggested that the US was embarrassed by this blunder and went so far as to permit the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 in order to clear the ledger.

Only those with something to hide would stand in the way of a transparent public inquiry. Only those who are blinded by vengeance would fail to see that the conviction of al-Megrahi was based on fabrication and mendacity. Only those who are ignorant would reach conclusions without consideration of the facts.

In their 2002 book, Ziauddin Sardar and Merryl Wyn Davies asked, 'Why Do People Hate America?' Perhaps one answer is that it is very difficult to like people who are so blinded by prejudice that they can't recognise the truth when it is dangling in front of their eyes.

The documentary, The Maltese Double Cross which outlines many of the controversies surrounding this clear miscarriage of justice has been almost buried. There are only two versions in circulation (links below). The version on Google Video is poor quality and barely watchable. A version which is available via BitTorrent is somewhat better but is less accessible. I have cleaned this version up slightly and uploaded it to the Internet Archive (archive.org).

Climate Change Puppeteers Reveal Their Heavy Hands

I've tried to remain objective about the issue of climate change/global warming. There have been some pretty compelling arguments from both sides but the cast of players which has been revealed as the sponsors of 'the biggest single report' on the subject says a great deal about its patronage. Being agnostic has not been easy - the result is often to be shot from both sides. As with other topics of such grave nature, fanatics cannot abide reasoning.

On the whole, though, like many I used to think that it might be wiser to err on the side of caution. And it may be that depending on many people with that safeguard mentality was an intrinsic part of a pretty huge deception.

According to The Independent, the report is 'backed by a diverse range of leading organisations such as Unesco, the World Bank, the US army and the Rockefeller Foundation'. Anybody who has been paying attention to the higher agenda over the past few decades will immediately have a discrete alarm going off in their heads. Even to innocent eyes, these are not organisations renowned for their hands off approach to world affairs. But to those who see through the global Punch and Judy show, it is like the final moments of an episode of Scooby-Doo.

And the revelation that Al Gore, the patron saint of Global Warming and official saviour of the world (prior to the second coming) established a company trading in carbon credits two years before the release of his panic-inducing flick, 'An Inconvenient Truth' is a very inconvenient fact which throws a very inconvenient light on the whole issue. City folk who play tricks like this are called 'insider traders' and 'rampers'.

To global capitalists, there is only one goal. To further this goal, they will exploit every human weakness - the greatest of which is fear. Refuse to be afraid.

Joan Humble Blackpool North and Fleetwood MP's Expenses Claim

Finally, a full list of MPs expenses has been published. Here are some of the things which have been claimed by Joan Humble.

Whilst there were no moats cleared or duck houses erected for the benefit of Blackpool North and Fleetwood MP, her expenses claims do paint an interesting picture.

Without comment, here is some of what the tax payer has footed the bill for on her behalf over the period of the expenses so far revealed:

Tea bags: £167.76
Toilet rolls: £190.02
Towels (disposable, presumably): £269.75
Hot chocolate: £168.87
Instant coffee: £37.98
Accountancy fees: £1891.75 - almost all of which was for Tax Return completion.

Just to put some of that into tangible figures fro the invoices:

Approximately 7500 tea bags
360 toilet rolls

Interestingly, there is no mention of beverages or toilet paper in the documents linked Joan Humble's official site, the invoices are from Viking Direct, so it is easy to bury these products under the general heading of 'office supplies'.

Joan Humble and many of her colleagues should remember that people have long memories. When she supported Tony Blair's illegal aggression against Iraq along with Goerge W. Bush, either by voting for it or, in a final weak attempt to appease protesters, by abstaining, she probably thought that it was a wise manoeuvre to show loyalty to her party and leader and ignore those who voted for her. She probably never imagined that the political establishment would find itself crumbling and her party, for which she betrayed her electorate, would fall into such ill repute and disarray.

Along with all the other spineless greasy pole climbers, it is hoped that Joan Humble soon discover that whilst Prime Ministers may appoint members of the cabinet - it is voters who choose MPs. Party loyalty at the cost of voters' trust could prove a heavy price.

Iraq War Inquiry to be held in secret - what is the point?

Gordon Brown's announcement that there will be an inquiry into the war in Iraq but the further news that it will be held in private begs the question, what is the point? If it is not held in public, it will be little more than a theatrical performance to reassure the credulous that everything was above board but a few minor mistakes were made along the way. One or two wrists will be slapped but the wrist owners will inexplicably find themselves promoted or otherwise doing very well, thank you. No writs. No arrests. No Problem.

In his claim that the inquiry will be independent, with no apparent awareness of his Orwellian double-speak, Brown clarified this by saying that the board of the inquiry will either be appointed members of the Privy Council or will be made members of the Privy Council. Whilst the Privy Council may sound a little English and twee, it is in fact little more than a tier of authoritarianism wrapped in a gown of traditionalism. The word 'Privy' is surely a dead giveaway! That it will be necessary to elevate any non-members to this position before they can serve on the board of inquiry is an indication of the true level of secrecy that can be expected.

All the talk of politicians being servants and not rulers has now wrapped the chips. This is the just kind of bullshit that we would have expected from an Eastern Bloc totalitarian dictatorship or, indeed, the likes of Robert Mugabe.

A month or so on from the pledge of more transparent government and scrutiny and we find that the transparency is on par with the opaque glass in a toilet window. Everybody knows what is going on in there and that there will be a substantial sanitisation operation before the door is unlocked.

Not wishing to confuse apparently self-inflicted terrorism with my ongoing dispute with Orange, but if there is one mammoth of an elephant in the living room regarding 9/11 it is WTC7.

Thanks to the actions of a small handful of people, there came an end to my prolonged interest in the truth about what happened on 11th September 2001. But nuggets like this will ensure that the issue will never be buried.

Hazel Blears is a turd

I just wanted to say that out loud, as it were, and as publicly as possible. And it is my intention to sound offensive.

I don't want to beat about the bush, implying that I don't hold her in the highest esteem. I want to be quite unequivocal about it. She is a turd. A fucking turd. She is the exemplification of New Labour, up your own arse, fuck you, condescending, self-important, holier than thou, above the law, the working class can kiss my arse, I've got the foreman's job at last greasy pole climber.

She is far from alone but nobody else has made me want to put a brick through other people's television screens (I don't have such a thing) more than her.

She's on her way. Back to Salford where it can only be hoped that they have been busy building a bonfire. And if she isn't burned alive by her constituents, before her barbecued remains are fed to the strays and her bones gnawed by rodents, I hope she is humbled to live out her remaining days serving those who granted her mercy in the most humiliating way possible.

Ever since she became Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, I have endured her grating faux received pronunciation. Now that she has been forced to scamper back to Salford, she can be heard coming on all local, like as she is pwned by BBC North West Tonight's Ranvir Singh.

Earlier, she gave a snivelling interview to the Manchester Evening News in which she spelled out her regrets at resigning her cabinet position. She claims that she tried to avoid a firestorm by resigning at the same time as Jacqui Smith and Bev Hughes. Common sense would suggest that the opposite would be more likely, that abandoning ship with the other rats was more likely to cause political turbulence. Did she hurt Gordon Brown? It's not very likely that anybody could inflict any more damage to his credibility than he has inflicted himself.

It's not as if any politician, Labour or otherwise, really knows how to spin themselves to curry favour with the electorate anymore. I imagine that most people, whilst they may feel anxieties about their personal economies and security, are thoroughly enjoying the cringing and grovelling that is happening in the vicinity of Parliament. Few feel any sympathy for any of them as they clamber over each other trying to present a shit free side to their egos. It's like watching clowns performing tired old routines with planks of wood and buckets of water.

Meanwhile, politicians desperate to distract the public from the shenanigans keep spouting that the public are bored with the issue of politicians expenses and are more concerned with the more important issues. I don't think we are! We want to know all there is to know about the larcenous filth who have been fleecing us because they never dreamed they would get caught.

I only wish we still used the stocks.

The Peasants Revolt 2009 - Revolution in Bromsgrove

If we must depend on those who proclaim their revolutionary credentials using their clothing as a medium of expression, perhaps we should surrender now.

Channel Four News conducted some vox pops in the constituency of Bromsgrove to sense the mood following the forced resignation of its Conservative MP, Julie Kirkbride following the revelation that she had been cavalier with her MP's expense claims.

A member of the public wearing a Che Guevara T-shirt stated, with no obvious awareness of his insincerity, 'I voted for her at the last election but, you know, after what's happened the last couple of weeks, it's disgusting isn't it. You know, basically just want her out'.

That's right, mate, vote Tory! Che would be proud of you!

Porcine Politics - see how they run like pigs from a gun

If New Labour, which, as we have discovered over the past decade, is more Repackaged Thatcher, were to remain true to its New Ideals of free enterprise and market forces then there ought to be two major differences in the complexion of the current state of British affairs.

Firstly, the banks which have been running on empty vaults (or more accurately, vaults which support the theoretical existence of anti-matter - as the fractional reserve system permits them to operate on theoretical terms and the existence of what can only be described as theoretical capital) should have been allowed to implode - not merely out of the schadenfreude which rolled in waves through the massed tax paying public who have seen their taxes squandered in propping them up and topping up the lard for the executive criminals who had already fleeced them twice. And not merely out of a respect for the fundamentals of economic law on which market forces are structured. But above all, because just as the forces of pressure in the atmosphere struggles perpetually towards equilibrium - creating weather - economics, to perpetuate, must maintain some form of balance. The artificial 'stimulus' which has occurred can only create a greater imbalance - a greater economic catastrophe is inevitable.

Secondly, as revelations about the obscenity of MP's expenses continue, perhaps by the next general election a new form of free market democracy could be implemented. Next to each candidate's name should be the per annum figure which the tax paying voter can expect to pay for the term of their office. On their election, MP's can spend the money as they wish but no further expenses would be met. This system has been championed by both major parties in the UK for the award of contracts ranging from the building of Olympic stadia to hospital cleaning. No doubt those who favoured this kind of economic model in the market place would raise protests identical to the opposition to the system when applied to public services. One can hear Hazel Blears and her ilk whinging to each other about how cutting costs could only lead to a reduction of the quality of service. The scandal is sickening to the point of exasperation. To some, none of this comes as a surprise and the wincing of the culprits is highly entertaining.

The vacuum of public confidence will hopefully lead to the collapse of institutional party politics and the foundation of a form of representational, accountable democracy which serves the population - not politicians, parties or corporations.

Has there ever been a truly benevolent regime which does not oppress its population?

About eight years ago Tony Gosling was being silenced on a systematic basis by the editors of the UK Indymedia website. Many people who believed that he had a right to be heard supported him and regularly challenged the censorship which was imposed on him. It was believed that UK Indymedia was far from independent and that their claim for open publishing was pretty hollow - though they would always claim that they 'hid' rather than delete undesirable posts - hiding meaning that the post was buried in a way that was only discoverable by the more savvy visitor to the site. The post itself was rendered virtually unreadable by being placed on a dark grey background with the word 'HIDDEN' tessellated diagonally.

The oppressed Tony Gosling somehow eventually found himself as an Administrator on the UK 9/11 Truth Movement forum - www.911forum.org.uk/board - and has imposed his own tyranny. Tony Gosling does not limit himself to merely hiding posts - he edits them and/or their titles, deletes them and imposes penalties which range from temporary to permanent bans for anybody who so much as posts in the wrong section. Yet, like a drunken Boris Yeltsin, posts an article entitled '£5 to drive a steam train - bank holiday fun' in a section described as 'The Bigger Picture: The Oligarchs of the global elite: their strategems, their lies; and their downfall... Looking forward, with vision, to a just world in the future.' No irony there, then?

Having recently discovered that I had been labelled a 9/11 Truth Critic, i.e. somebody who endorses the official story of 9/11, I have received an indefinite ban, ostensibly for swearing but in reality for privately criticising Goslings exclusive fascist regime.

Gosling told me once that he saw his role as 'Editor' rather than 'Moderator' (before he was promoted to Administrator), which perfectly illustrates his frustrated hunger for power. As an 'Administrator', he now has the ultimate authority but as has been seen, his subjects are fleeing. Of course, when this is pointed out to the C-in-C, he draws attention to the number of visitors the forum has - whether in oblivion or wilful mendacity of the fact that those numbers will consist almost entirely of searchbots spidering the site and spambots trying to register phoney accounts.

The 9/11 Truth forum became unmanageable some time ago - populated by fools and agents provocateurs promoting ridiculous 'theories'. I only returned to it to see if there was any sensible comment on Zeitgeist and The Venus Project's blatant NWO propaganda - it seems that Gosling has presided over the forums virtual disintegration, the forum's original mod/admin team sensibly abandoning ship and leaving the comic book dictator to entertain himself and personify all that he claims to oppose in doing so.

When I first saw Jacques Fresco in the film Zeitgeist: Addendum, I was uncomfortably minded of the leader of the UFO cult Heaven's Gate, Marshall Applwhite (aka Bo and Do) who died in the cult's mass suicide in 1997.

Jacques Fresco does, however, have UFO cult connections - he was 'bestowed the title of Honorary Guide of the Raelian Movement' in October 2008, the Raelian movement being by far the biggest UFO cult on this planet.

I make this point because I started to get the Kool-Aid feeling about the Venus Project when I watched Zeitgeist: Addendum and more so the Zeitgeist Activists Orientation Video (see Zeitgeist and the Venus Project) in which a utopia reminiscent of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World is proposed as a solution to the problems of global capitalism and religion. A feeling which grows the more familiar I become with all things Zeitgeist/Venus Project.

The Raelians claim to be 'reclaiming the swastika', according to Wikipedia but its incorporation into the Israeli (IsRAELi) Star of David in the same fashion that some have done to promote the concept of ZioNazism is peculiar, if not sinister.
As mentioned previously, the Zeitgeist movement has partially (but successfully) co-opted the the 9/11 Truth and Anti-NWO Movements into supporting a project which ought to be contrary to their instincts. Those hungry for an alternative to the inevitable future of a tyrannical one world government may well be desperately biting into a poisonous fruit.

Headlines - defined for David Icke

Anybody visiting the 'headlines' page on David Icke's website might well wonder where exactly they are - despite the helpful instruction - directly below the words 'Latest Headlines' it states, 'Scroll down to view headlines'.

Headlines, by definition, are lines which appear at the head of the page - hence the word, 'headline'. Couldn't be simpler.

So, following the advice to scroll down, just how far does a visitor need to go? It's very likely that David Icke does not want readers to think too much about that question as it is necessary to scroll past 14 feet (4.5 meters) of advertisements and notices (the same advertisements and notices which adorn his front page) before the first headline is reached. Even if the world's tallest man was standing upon the shoulders of the second tallest man, the so-called headlines would be below the feet of the man standing on the ground.

Once readers have arrived at the headlines they are invited to 'Refresh Frequently' as they are 'Updated throughout the day'. Is that a fact? I've been back quite regularly and never have the headlines been updated after their initial daily post.

What is even more irritating is that the page is so stuffed full of junk that embedded videos will virtually never play correctly - the video's original source having to be found in order to watch them.

It has to be the most laborious page to load - and wasting so much bandwidth loading the same array of self-publicising images every day can be extremely tedious. Someone once said that less is more. I wish somebody could get it through to David Icke that in the case of his 'headlines' page, more is quite definitely less.

Zeitgeist and the Venus Project

I stumbled upon the Zeitgeist Movement's Z-Day website a couple of weeks ago and discovered that there was to be an event which coincided with a visit to Perth in Scotland.

I had watched Zeitgeist and found it very interesting as would all but the die-hard fundamentalists of all religions. Earlier this year, I watched Zeitgeist: Addendum and was going along with it until it reached the part about the Venus Project. Something felt very technocratic and sterile about it.

Anyway, I watched the Activists' Orientation Video (the title gave me the creeps) and had deep reservations about it but felt that I ought to go to the event anyway - to get a measure of what other people felt. As it happened the event was merely a showing of the AOV again. On second hearing I can only say that my reaction was one of horror. Most people simply disappeared at the end but I stayed to share my concerns with the organiser who seemed to share at least a few of my reservations.

Since then I have been expecting to see the usual suspects denouncing the Zeitgeist Movement/Venus Project as a New World Order psy-op - after all, it presents Huxley's Brave New World as a utopia rather than the dystopia which Huxley attempted to portray. Incidentally, anybody who believes that Aldous Huxley was a pro-NWO eugenicist has not read his 1958 book, Brave New World Revisited.

It wasn't until a couple of days later that I found a video of the 'sold out' event in New York. I skipped to the end of the presentation of the AOV at which point there was rapturous applause (I assume that the flock were on their feet too).

Surely this can't be real? Surely these people who are apparently 'open' to the notion that humankind has been manipulated for centuries cannot seriously fall for this thinly veiled New World Order propaganda.

And then, as if any further proof were needed that something wasn't right with this picture, I found this in the New York Times:

The tenth paragraph says:

'The former [Zeitgeist: The Movie] may be most famous for alleging that the attacks of Sept. 11 were an 'inside job' perpetrated by a power-hungry government on its witless population, a point of view that Mr. Joseph said he has recently 'moved away from.' Indeed, the second film, the focus of the event, was all but empty of such conspiratorial notions, directing its rhetoric and high production values toward posing a replacement for the evils of the banking system and a perilous economy of scarcity and debt.

Do the libertarians who oppose the New World Order really want to surrender their decision making to computers? In the AOV, this is compared to using a pocket calculator to make decisions - except that pocket calculators don't make decisions - they -er calculate.

After stating that the Earth's soil is eroding at a rate of 1% per annum earlier in the film, it later says that food will be grown by hydroponics - no irony there?

Everything will be plugged into a central computer which will monitor all resources - is there any reason to believe that people will not be regarded as resources in this context?

In summary, there was nothing in the Activists' Orientation Video which made me feel comfortable and I am deeply concerned that anybody who has had their eyes opened will think that this is the solution.

The BBC and the Gaza appeal

The BBC made a controversial decision not to show the appeal by The Disasters Emergency Committee for aid to Gaza following the Israeli attacks. The BBC’s Director General, Mark Thompson stated that broadcasting the appeal ‘might jeopardise the public's confidence in the BBC's impartiality’:

Well, how about this for an idea? How about the BBC produce an appeal for aid for the Israeli victims of the conflict? Broadcast both appeals in the name of ‘impartiality’. Let’s see where the public’s sympathy is.
